• National Center for Education Statistics — Distance Education at Postsecondary Education Institutions: 1997-98
This NCES report provides estimates of the number of postsecondary institutions offering distance education courses, the number of distance education course offerings and enrollments, and the number of degree and certification programs offered.  It is based on data collected from both 2- and 4-year postsecondary institutions in the 1997-98 academic year.

• TeleCampus Online Course Database
An international online course database of more than 9,000 courses. Includes public and private courses at all levels from more than 15 countries and includes only those courses that can be completed fully online. Professional development and personal interest courses are also included.

• Globewide Network Academy
Contains list of over 15,000 courses and programs from kindergarten to doctoral programs, as well as a list of distance education related resources and vendors.

• Adult Education and Distance Learner’s Resource Center
Contains Directory of Online Colleges, Internet Universities, and Training Institutes, accreditation information, more.

Here you can search for and even enroll directly in online and classroom based courses.

• NTEN: The National Teachers Enhancement Network
Based at Montana State University offers graduate-credit science and mathematics courses to teachers nationally. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, NTEN allows educators to participate in the telecomputing courses from home or work through direct Internet access or dial-up modem connections. Courses are taught by university scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. NTEN also enhances professional networking nationwide between science teachers and active research scientists. The site offers telecomputing guides for both students and teachers, and online teaching experiences written by course instructors.

• PBS Adult Learning Service Online
Featuring educational programs — for colleges, businesses, and other organizations — available via satellite from PBS. The site also offers information for prospective college students on how to earn college credit from home by taking telecourses.
