This book has been shortlisted in our annual CBCA Book Awards - THE children's book
awards here. I
haven't read it (although I have read its predecessor, 'Once' ) but apparently it
focuses on the
Holocaust. The Holocaust does not receive as much curriculum focus here as it
appears to in the US
and there is quite a bit of local-list discussion about its suitability for the
primary/elementary
sector. Many are saying they would reserve it for Yr 6, much like PG (parental
guidance) rated
movies.
If you have this book in your collection, can you offer some guidance about its
suitability for that
younger audience please?
