[LM_NET] TAR: Google Docs and chatting

Hello,
 
One of 8th grade teachers is thinking of having her students use google docs 
primarily for an Information Technology class. Has anyone used them in a classroom 
setting and found that the students spend their time 'chatting'?
Any input it appreciated.
