[LM_NET] TARGET: Of Mice and Men alternative?

I saw this target in the archives but couldn't find a hit.  I have one
teacher with a record five parents who will not allow their 10th graders to
read "Of Mice and Men" (he caught up with me during one of my banned book
lessons).  I need some alternatives to offer the teacher.  I found a couple
of things on Novelist but I haven't read any of them:--Through a glass
darkly by Miller and Whose Names are Unknown / Babb.  If anyone knows
anything about these two, please advise.  Thanks in advance!
