Hello all:
Thanks to everyone who wrote about timeline software.

GENERAL RESOURCES
Barbara Braxton recommends:
If you go to http://www.go2web20.net/ which is a directory of Web 2.0 tools
and select the tag 'timeline' from the dropdown menu you will get a
selection of tools to use.
I have shared this with everyone because I find this directory invaluable.
When you have your selections, if you put the cursor over the one you like
it brings up a brief description of it. Then click on the description and at
the bottom of the screen you get a more detailed description and the link is
at the left. I found some great sites when I chose the Kids tag.
MICROSOFT
Microsoft Office has free timeline templates on their site
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/results.aspx?qu=timelines
If the link doesn't work, go to
http://office.microsoft.com/
and search "timelines" in the box.
You can also create timelines in Microsoft Excel. Here are two websites.

OTHER CHOICES
Maryland Public Television has a website with free teaching tools at
www.thinkport.org <http://www.thinkport.org/> . One of the tools is an
online timeline creator

SPECIFIC TIMELINES
Some recommended specific times lines and explained their limitations and
possibilities.
Xtimeline
Some told that, even if it is collaborative, xtimeline.com is balky and
tricky to use.
Readwritethink
Many recommend this simple timeline in the readwritethink web. I have used
and it is very easy, even if you have to complete it a la force.
because it is simple and effective, which outweighs the fact that it must be
completed in one sitting by an individual.
it can help students put things in order and it's free, takes just a minute
to use,

Michele Nokleby recommends
In addition to the tool at ReadWriteThink, you may want to look at
www.dipity.com <http://www.dipity.com/> for professional or
middle/highschool users. For my primary students, I usually just create a
template in ordinary desktop publishing software, and have them fill in the
dates and/or annotations and add appropriate pictures. I think it is
entirely unnecessary to purchare special software.
COMMERCIAL TIMELINE SOFTWARE
Timeline at Software Express; It has a lot of features so please read the
