[LM_NET] Target: Editing Mini DVD Footage

Hi all,
 
My assistant recently purchased a Sony Handycam (DCR-DVD 108) to use on her travels 
to Africa.  After she got back from her trip, she had no trouble finalizing her 
DVD-R's and playing them, but editing has been a challenge.  The picture motion 
browse software leaves a lot to be desired if one is used to working with footage 
from a miniDV camera imported into MovieMaker.  Neither she nor I were able to 
import what she had recorded into MovieMaker.  Does anyone know if this is 
possible?  If it is not, does anyone know of any software with features similar to 
Moviemaker that I can suggest she consider purchasing?  Thanks in advance.
