Oh wise ones,
My district has just moved to a union catalog and I am now being more
careful with my cataloging. I'm currently fixing some records that "were
lacking." I'm getting confused by the difference between the x and v
subfields on subject records (650). It seems that on older titles
everything was an x, now both are used. I think I understand that v is a
form such as poetry or drama. But I keep seeing fiction as both. Is the
v subfield for form a new edition? And the larger question, does it
really make a difference?
