okay- let me be your mentor- do not respond in writing to your observation. you are
new out of school in a new job. make a list of things that you may want to change
from the observation. No need to explain, this is just one in a long career.
Politics- ignore the politics. The librarian is Switzerland. Ask for help from
other teachers- is it a classroom management issue? Are you selecting age
appropriate materials? Are there seminars to go to or can you spend an hour a week
in a classroom of a veteran teacher? Is it structured time etc. Is there a local
org of teacher librarians that you bounce your curriculum and lesson plans off of?
are trying to do too much. pick five concerns and work on them. My first job review
my supervisor said I was a little too enthusiastic. What does that mean? I went
home and cried and then decided there really wasn't anything I could do about my
personality. the second year my supervisor said that the teachers and the staff
really appreciated my enthusiasm. We all have things to learn and asking for help
sometimes is the best way.

Observation!

I was observed about 2 weeks ago and I have just received my
observation from the principal. I know I have the right to respond to
the observation but I am not sure how to write it. Is it like a
letter? Do you write it a different way?? I just started my job on
January 2nd right out of school. I was not pleased with many things
that were said in the observation and I would really like to respond.
It seems that there are some politics in the school ( I was warned
after I accepted the job) and it's affecting me. I love the kids but
the politics are going to kill me! Granted I do not know everything!
Thank you for any help. I just do not want to seem any more ignorant
then the principal already believes me to be.
