My original post was:
Our school is under renovation, and we will be moving the library very soon. I
looked in the LM_NET archives and found lots of great advice when planning this
move. What I didn't find is the names of any library moving companies in Texas. I
would love recommendations and to hear about your experience with the company if
you did employ them to help with the move. Thanks in advance...
I was asked to post a hit, so here it is. I did get some responses - some offering
advice on how they moved their library & others who actually gave me names/phone
numbers for companies that move libraries. Here are all the responses:
Companies to use that are located in TX & closer to Sweeny:
East End Transfer & Storage 1-800-231-2184
Roadrunner Moving and Storage (located at Hwy. 90 & Chimneyrock) 1-800-332-7033
Libra-tech Corp. w/ Penny Gromatzky 1-940-464-3033
Armstrong Moving & Storage (in Austin, TX) 1-800-522-0141
Suggestions/advice for moving a library yourself w/out a company:
1. The district pays the high school band loading crew to do the job
2. Rent movable carts with shelves & shrink wrap a loaded shelf before it is in
transit
3. Talk with the athletics dept. & see if you can use the kids to help - so called
"weight training"
4. Make sure I label my boxes or shelves (whichever route I take) very precisely
b/c there could be lots of confusion when unloading if I don't
Thanks for all your suggestions & advice. Now, I will work on getting quotes & see
how this all falls into place...
