It is interesting that this conversation should come up at this time. I had to
sort out a bit of a misunderstanding with a teacher just this morning about my
duties and who to talk to in regards my home base library (I am one of two
certified librarians who oversee seven campuses). She said she felt that because I
might be in the office and dealt a lot with technology issues that I was a
technology person rather than a librarian. How she explains my emails to staff
about book orders, new items in collection, and the like I don't know.

I do like to collaborate and do so at the various campuses, but a lot of my job is
behind-the scenes support, both in print issues and technology issues. As you can
imagine, even with campuses split 3 and 4 between the two of us, there is still a
lot of administrative stuff to do. That's not counting my dealing with AR and
STAR as district coordinator and other district tech duties.

When it comes right down to it, however, I would call myself an educator -- period.
Whether I am teaching or supporting teaching, I am part of educating our students
and that is the point of the whole process.

My two cents

Librarians] are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all
quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess
with them.
