Hi,
A warm thank you to all who replied to my request on school librarian
friendly study abroad programs. I had many requests for a hit, so please
see below: - Laura
******
At least two librarians from our district have applied and were
chosen.
I did the Canada Mexico fulbright last summer there were 2 other school
librarians...
the Japan Fulbright memorial always has a lot of librians..there are
t2-3 times to go I think. spring,
june & late fall
I saw your post on LM_NET re: Fulbright travel/study. I've never been
a Fulbright Scholar but
taught music in Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada for 1 yr. & music/Info
Sci/Tech/PE in Japan for 30 yrs for
the U.S. Dept. of Defense Dependents Schools. DoDDS doesn't have
facilities in every country but in Korea, Japan, Guam, Germany, Spain,
Belgium, UK, etc. It's not a bad life, actually. In fact, if you start
early
enough before retirement, DoDDS will pretty much pay for a home abroad
via Living Quarters Allowances that
are tax exempt under federal statutes.
I have participated in three National Endowment for the Humanities
Landmarks of American History and Culture workshops over the past two
summers. They were very informative and engaging--an invigorating shot
in the arm. Each lasted five days, with most expenses paid. Check out
this summer's offerings:

Check out NEG.gov Media Specialists can apply and some classes are
overseas.
