[LM_NET] HUMOR: 1st grade poetry

Today (a day early) I kicked off Nat'l Poetry Month with some of our 1st graders. 
After reading some funny poems, we talked about imagery and how a good poem can 
help you see and feel in a more powerful way. We concluded with a cute rhyming book 
called A Sock is a Pocket for Your Toes by Elizabeth Garton Scanlon. It is filled 
with sentiments such as: "A cone is a pocket for ice cream." "A pond is a pocket 
for ducks." "My heart is a pocket for love." 

One little boy raised his hand and said, "I've got one. My heart is a pocket for 
Jesus." Such sweetness. Then another hand shot up and a boy said enthusiastically, 
"I have one too! My underwear is a pocket for my butt."

Only in the library can we have this much fun!
