I teach in a K-5 school, and I have had several students (nearly all boys) ask for
"car" books. I am aware that I haven't done much to provide for this particular
interest. (I confess that I know nothing about the topic and don't have much
interest myself, so this is largely my fault.) We need both everybody books and
middle-upper elementary levels. Race cars and sports cars seem to be the most
commonly requested types, with monster trucks also high on the list. Photography
is highly preferred over drawings.

Here's my qualifier, though... I don't want one of those series where each book is
16 pages long, about only one type of car, and costs $15... and there are 57 books
in the series. (Series like that are one of my pet peeves, but that thread is over
so I won't go down that path.) I want to get fewer than 5 comprehensive books that
will satisfy my students' desire without spending a healthy chunk of my budget on
books that don't meet my state requirements.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Kris
