My original post asked if I should keep or discard my Facts on File, Current
Biography and American Heritage Mags. Thanks to everyone who gave their advice.
Here's the tally of advice:
American Heritage
Keep 1
Keep if used 111
Toss 1111
Current Biography
Keep 1111

Toss 11
Facts on File

A few of the comments:
I finally came up with my own guidelines for whether or not to keep the item in
question: 1. Can the information be easily found on the Internet so that even
students without computers at home can find the info with a quick search done in
the media center? 2. Is the info brief enough to be able to print it out on one
piece of paper? Those questions have helped me weed a lot of materials!
Are they used? Does the content help you support your state academic standards?
Nope -- I ditched mine about 3 years ago and no one even noticed.
So I think I'll toss Facts on File, keep Current Biography and maybe keep American
Heritage. (I was a history teacher, I can't let go!)
Thanks again
