I am a Wendall Berry fan and after reading his wonderful book, Jayber Crow, I
wanted someday to visit
Berry's Eastern Kentucky town that may have been the setting for the book. While
visiting
my brother in Lexington this summer, I "Googled" Berry's name and, although he
tries to stay out of sight,
I found an address of a small town (pop. 116) where he has resided. It was
definitely off the
beaten path, but it was a great experience to drive past the church, cemetary,
small storefronts,
the farms and tobacco fields, and along the river to get some visual images for the
setting of the book.
(Don't be alarmed...I don't stalk authors! I just wanted to see what he saw).
I'm curious...has anyone else ever done anything similar? It would be fun to hear
from people
about famous "author" or "book" spots you've visited.
