[LM_NET] GEN: Most Interesting Thing This Summer

Mine was attending the NEA convention in Philly and having my question 
picked to be one to put to the 8 candidates who came and spoke to us.  It 
was about NCLB being an unfunded mandate and while Richardson didn't answer 
it and choose instead to use his time as a soundbite, it was cool to see my 
name up on the huge screens in front and have Reg Weever from Illinois, and 
our NEA president, read it.
There are sessions there for librarians and I urge anyone who has the 
opportunity to ever go to get involved.  I also encourage state and local 
involvement for anyone who can.  The more voices that are heard, the more 
our message gets out.  I love it everytime I hear how important librarians 
were in our Illinois senators' lives.  Durbin is especially passionate about 
a librarian who encouraged his love of reading.  He's never forgotten her or 
us.
The rest of the summer was spent teaching summer school, going to grad 
class, and reading tons of YA and adult books.  Does it get any better than 
that?
