Dear LM_NETters,
Once again I am at loggerheads with my principal (and perhaps the district powers
that be...). This time the question is staffing. I am the
only certified LMS in our HS of approximately 1800 students. I have one full
time aide. I seem to recall reading that the "ideal" ratio of
librarian to students is 1:500. I can't hope to approach this ideal but we
did have 2 LMSs here when there were 1400-1600 students. What is the
recommendation? Is there a specific recommendation or just the rather open
suggestions from AASL/ALA and state organizations? Thank you for your
expertise.
