I have received quite a few examples of evaluation instruments for school
librarians. I was asked to provide a hit for this. Some were very brief and
others quite lengthy.

As it happened, Ohio held its annual conference (Ohio Education and Library Media
Association) two weeks ago and one of the presentations covered this exact topic.
The presenters, Patricia Owen and her daughter, Megan Oakleaf gave the most
wonderful outline that is based on the Ohio Academic Content Standards. We have
decided to follow their suggestions using those guidelines and information from the
book Information Power (American Library Association, 1998.)

To see the Ohio Library Standards go to: www.ode.state.oh.us, click on Academic
Content Standards and then to Library Guidelines.

One suggested the book Administering the School Library Media Center by Betty J.
Morris

Google the following: How Good is Good, PDE 428

It is obvious from the email I received that many administrators do not understand
what our jobs are and there is confusion on how to give us a proper evaluation.

Once again thanks to all who provided information to me.
