Thanks to all who provided clues and contributed possible solutions! My original
post and the solution to the mystery follows. However, why the Lexington Public
Library assumed the book belonged a Seton Catholic School in Ohio instead of to the
Seton Catholic School in their own city still baffles me!
Original post:
My mystery of the year arrived in the mail today! I received a virtually
brand new copy of Meg Cabot's The Princess Present sent by the Interlibrary Loan
department of the Lexington Public Library, 140 East Main Street, Lexington,
Kentucky. The book has a bar code on the front cover that says "Seton Catholic
School."
The call number is formatted : [Fic] CAB The barcode number is
A0000000016914. But the mystery deepens when I look on the cover page. The
ownership stamp reads: PUBLIC LIBRARY 301 South University Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.
It is not from MY Seton Catholic School. If anyone can give me a clue as
to where it belongs or who to call, I'd be happy to send it "home." (I wish it
could talk - I'd love to know all the places it has been and how it got there!)
Solution:
Thank you!! The book belongs to us - it must've been returned to the public
library by one of our students. The book was purchased at a warehouse sale, thus
the explanation for the original ownership stamp.
Our mailing address is
