Dear LM_Netters,
I just took a job in a K-8 public school. I love the job
and the staff and the students (well, most of the students). As I began to
explore the collection, I realized that the last time the collection was
weeded I was probably in HS. For example, one book I have removed was
Computer Tech Talk copyright 1984, (Caption quote "As technology advances
computers will get smaller. Here you can compare a regular computer with a
laptop computer that only weighs 26 pounds"). I have found many articles
and purchased a couple of books on Deselection, so for the most part I know
what to do. I am having a hard time actually doing it. My brain says
"States books from 1977-1981 need to go." But my body (and heart) rebel. I
have zero budget for new books, but I can see why. I would not have room to
place them on the shelf. I guess I need to hear affirmation that this is
the right thing.

PS. The State books are gone.
