I have a 6th grade teacher who is requiring every child to read a one point AR book
each night. One of her students checked out a Bill Peet book that was worth one
point. He enjoyed it and wanted to read more, but the rest of them are only worth
one half point each. I told him to ask her if he could check out TWO of the half
point books (which he really wanted to read!) thinking 2 halfs would equal 1 point.
She actually said NO. Imagine, a child has found books he really wants to read
and the teacher will not let him. I was speechless....
