I need your help! Our 20th century studies teacher is looking for books on
the effects of globalization - specifically the cultural and environmental
effects. How has globalization affected the way people eat, the way food is
produced, the way land is used, the crops we plant, the products we buy, the
lifestyle choices we make, the way different popular cultures affect one
another? The books can show either positive or negative effects of
globalization.

She would prefer fiction or memoir, but is also willing to consider highly
readable non-fiction. She doesn't want any of the Opposing Viewpoints or
Current Controversies kinds of books that are primarily informative. For
example, she's using A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid to illustrate how
globalization affects tourism.

The students in her class are sophomores and juniors with average reading
ability who don't (yet) have a love of reading. She's looking for something
that will spark their interest and wake them up from their academic slumber!

All ideas are welcome! Thank you!
