Thanks to those of you who responded to my request for safety videos for
early elementary.
My original post:
Hello All:
The family life teachers are looking to replace several out-dated videos for
grades K-3 dealing with safety--specifically stranger danger, "good
touch/bad touch," and being home alone. We are having trouble finding
appropriate materials for this age group. I would like to get your
recommendations on any videos and books your elementary teachers use that
deal with these sensitive topics and any publishers or vendors you might
recommend.
Videos
http://www.sunburst-media.com/default.aspx
Sunburst has a huge selection of books, videos and materials on guidance
topics. It is a very user-friendly website. I found a promising video
called “Is it Okay? Staying Safe.”
http://www.marshmedia.com/
Another video company with a variety of selections for health, guidance and
character education.
“Safety. If you Feel Danger” seems to fit the early elementary age
group.

This video by John Walsh and Julie Clark (Baby Einstein) received many
awards.

from www.foxpromedia.com
The Eli Sprightly Stranger Safety video. This site allows you to preview
videos on line.
Books http://www.rosenpublishing.com/
A series by PowerKids Press called "The Abduction Prevention Library". I've
found it to be a pretty good series, but the copyright date is 1999. The
titles in this series are:
Listen to Your Instincts
Staying Safe at Home and On-Line
Staying Safe by Saying No
Stranger Danger
Ten Steps to Staying Safe
What to Do If You Get Lost
Another series from the same publisher called “The Kids Library of
Personal Safety” offered another six books about safety.
