I am at a middle school, grade 6-8. I have laptops in the library for student and
classroom use (mobile lab that is no longer mobile). Students have begun to pull
keys off the laptops basically rendering the laptop useless. In the past week we
have lost 4 laptops to this type of abuse. We are in the process of creating
procedures, but we need to be able to hold students accountable. To the best of
our knowledge this is happening when the students are with their classes. Our
teachers are pretty good at monitoring, but it's impossible to see all the laptops
at the same time and kids are pretty sneaky. We need a way to know who was at
which computer during the day. Some ideas we have are to barcode laptops and check
them out individually to students (very time consuming), create a seating chart or
check the laptops out to the teachers and hold them responsible. I was wondering
if anyone out there has a system in place that works for them.
Thanks for your help in this matter!
