Joanne makes a great point. We all have lots of turnover and we never know
what children have learned in another school.
I have another theory as well. I think many parents don't know how to be
one. Instead of parenting, they are caretakers, and all a child has to do
is plead ignorance about any task, and the job is done for them instead of
their being taught how to do it for themselves. The kids have learned the
trick of how to get everything done for them and they use it everywhere!
It's so amazing how my kids can't find the books they want until they see
that I'm not going to do it for them! And I'm always sure to tell them how
smart they are when they find it for themselves....
