Helping out an online acquaintance... does anyone know this book?

"I found it in the New Fiction section. Set in contemporary U.S.
Itinerant, adult sister and stepbrother. Ever since she was struck by
lightning, the sister has an extra sensory ability to "hear" the
cause of death of recent and long dead people by either standing on
the ground over their grave, or otherwise touching them/something
close to them."

Any ideas?... I guess it is an adult level book... I tried searching
the local public library's OPAC with keyword lightning... but no luck.

Hoping someone out in LMNET-land has read or heard about this book.
Thanks!
