Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for me as I work towards fixing
our online catalog. I have been a librarian for 6 years and I am used to Follett's
Destiny system. Just this past year I became employed in another schoold district
(LibraryPro is the system they use) that has just started employing librarians in
their elementary schools last year. Unfortunately, the library clerk who used to
work in my library did not have a firm grasp of how to properly catalog books so
our catalog is a mess. It is not helpful to any members of the school community.
For example, under the subject heading a book may have "See Sears p.20."
I am unsure of how to fix such an extreme situation. There is a part of me that
would like to delete everything and start over from scratch but I do not know if
that will be too daunting of a task for me to handle. Any suggestions??? I spent
my time this year working on getting to know the school cultures (I work at 2
schools) and providing students with interesting and useful lessons. Now I need to
tackle the catalog so that I can start off the new year right in the Fall.
Thanks in advance for your help!
