Perhaps you should start any meeting with this school board member and
his protest by asking WHICH book he believes SHOULD be in the library
rather than these three?

Then follow-up with the question...."If we remove these three books
because YOU don't think they are appropriate, we then open the door
for the next community member (with even more prestige and more money)
to request the removal of YOUR choice of the "most appropriate book"
based upon THEIR personal values."

Sometimes people who want materials removed don't realize that they
set the precident for others to also be able to remove THEIR choices
based upon the same reasoning.  If libraries cannot provide both
"sides" of an issue through the printed word, then we have no freedom
of choice.
