My friend Erin used to joke that she was going to submit her freelancing
invoices with the note, "Eating cat food. Please expedite." I'm guessing she
probably doesn't do that these days. The pet food recall has people in enough of a
panic, without worrying about people eating it.

FAQ: Pet Food Recall of March, 2007
The reason that the recall is so scary is that Menu Foods, the company
that announced the contamination, creates food for a wide variety of private label
pet foods. Over 42 brands of cat food alone are included in the recall.

Aminopterin Poisoning from Pet Food: What to Do
The only good news about aminopterin contamination is that it seems to
take several doses to do any real damage. So if you discover that your pet has been
eating one of the potentially contaminated brands, you still have a chance to
prevent them from being harmed.

People Food and Pets
People use more artificial sweeteners than ever before, which means
pets are more likely to encounter them. (Think of how sad your dog looks whenever
you're eating anything and he's not.) Trouble is, many of these sweeteners are
poisonous to pets.
