Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for information about audio book
recommendations. Here's the information. Thanks particularly to Mary Burkey whose
detailed response has been very helpful!

ALSC's "Notable Children's Recordings" list. Each year approximately 20 titles
recommended for ages 0-14 are named to this list which includes
audiobooks, music, & storytelling. You can find this year's list along with those
of past years here: http://tinyurl.com/b3k7f
YALSA has a Selected Audiobooks list for ages 12-18 that is found here
http://tinyurl.com/49s4h
The Audie Award http://tinyurl.com/33hq9e & the Grammy Award for
Children's Spoken Word http://www.grammy.com/ are two yearly awards
given by audio producers.
In January 2008, the very first Odyssey Award will be awarded by the
American Library Association, This is a joint award sponsored by ALSC,
YALSA, and Booklist Magazine that will recognize the best audiobook
produced for young listeners age 0-18. There will be a single gold medal winner
and possible honor titles. This is an exciting new recognition on the same
level as the Caldecott & Newbery Awards; find more information here:

There is a wonderful magazine, AudioFile, that focuses solely on
audiobooks. There are many titles for children & young adults reviewed in each
issue. Plus, the magazine's website has past reviews and a section called
Audiopolis, where you may listen to podcasts on titles and hear clips
of audiobooks: http://tinyurl.com/2munvs
AudioFile also has a complete list of audiobook producers on their
website that includes web address - use this to request catalogs from companies
or to visit producer websites, where you may listen to audio clips of
titles:http://tinyurl.com/2lxqov
Most of the standard library journals, including SLJ, Horn Book,
Booklist, VOYA, KLIATT, & Book Links, carry audiobook reviews.
