Hi! I hope you guys can provide your customary wonderful insight!
A 5th grade student has requested the book My dog, Skip, by Willie
Morris. It's the story the movie was based on. I know that the
student has seen the movie. The book, however, appears marketed to
adults & has a 7.1 reading level according to Accelerated Reader.
I've read a lot of reviews. All indicate that it's a great read,
though it sure looks written for adults.
Has anyone read this book? Is it truly a grown-up story, or just one
with vocabulary challenges? I think the student is interested enough
to give it a try, even if it's a hard read. I just don't want to be
buying something that's not really elementary reading.
Thanks so much for all your help,
Robin
