Hello Everyone,

Thank you for the many responses I received - they have been very helpful. Here
are is a list of the responses:

• We have previously used Ebsco, but our school system has chosen to use Cox
for next year.
• Our library used EBSCO when I first got to this school six years ago but I
changed after two years. I found EBSCO to be on the expensive side. We switched
to a couple of different places at first. We used W.T. Cox and USS [University
Subscription Service] but now we use Cox exclusively. They are pretty good about
handling missing issues, though we have been pretty lucky, only missing 2 issues in
the last 4 years, and both were during the summer. Cox also has a program that you
can download that you can use to manage your subscriptions. It's fairly simple and
works easier than the program built into our library system.
• Our district is using WT Cox and aren't pleased with them.
• I've been very happy with W.T. Cox. They email a quote first; you can
amend the original quote and they resend. They have actual reps for your account,
the same rep each time you call.(!) When we opened our new school two years ago, I
compared quotes from several subscription agencies (including EBSCO whom I'd used
for years and become unentranced with) and Cox had the best prices at that time.
The service was a happy bonus.
• I used EBSCO and found them to be rather expensive. At this time I'm using
WT COX subscriptions (wtcox.com) and they seem to do a really good job (I order
over $1000 worth of magazines each year).
• I requested (online) a catalog of magazines from EBSCO and never received
anything. I also e-mailed them and never received a reply. So, I went with W.T.
Cox. I had heard on this listserv that their customer service is excellent and
have found that to be the case.

• I use Ebsco and it is really very easy--they send you a list of your
current subscriptions you can renew or add to or cancel. The will accept a PO
number or the anticipated date the PO will be issued.
• Our district uses EBSCO. I've had no problems, and even if they don't
believe me that I didn't receive something, they send an extra copy anyway.
• ESBSCO handled my school library's subscriptions before I came to the
school and I never thought to change it. We don't subscribe to many, but the few
times a month was missed, one phone call to them fixed the problem.

• I use Demco Periodical Services - an actual person answers the phone to
take any concerns. Their pricing is equal to EBSCO (terrible customer service). When
you miss an issue, customer service is the criteria!
• We have been very happy with Demco for many years.

• Popular Subscription Services: very nice group to work with. They have a
site. Subscription Services of America: standard subscription services not as
many titles as EBSCO I have been approached by EBSCO to do a quote but I worked
with them in the past and they weren't really good on the customer service front.
I hoped they have changed. They are very slow at making changes.
• I just switched my subscription service from EBSCO to US Subscription
Media. David Honda is the contact person. He is fabulous! The prices are
awesome! I am saving so much money next year on magazines.
• I use a company called National Organization Services & Black Magazine
(that's really their name!). They're really good, our district gets a discount with
them, and they have everything we want.
• I'm in the middle of opening a new school and I went with Alini Magazines.
They were much cheaper than the other vendors I looked at.
