Dear LM_NET Subscribers,

It just occurred to me as I was looking through Maria Castellano Boyum's More
Simply Super Storytimes book (she has a Medieval and Old West themed section of
ideas) - that it might be fun to have a 4-6 week theme based storytime based on
traveling through time. Last year, I had a very successful series of 1st grade
storytimes based on traveling around the world - we boarded an "airplane" had
passports and souvenirs and read stories from around the world.

Now - that was so much fun - what if I do a time travel storytime series? I'm
thinking with 2nd grade. I could teach the reading of a time line and read some
fiction and non-fiction related to each time period - perhaps starting with
Biblical times, moving on to Medieval Times, Exploration, Revolutionary War,
Westward Expansion, and 20th Century History (other?). We could have a puzzle of
some sort related to each time period. I'm thinking I could build a "time machine"
in the library. Instead of a passport - we could have some sort of time wheel or
time line that I would stamp or punch for each trip.

Has anyone ever done something like this before? Would you be willing to share
your experiences/plans? My plans are just at the idea phase right now.
