[LM_NET] TARGET: Middle School High Interest/Low Level Series books or Individual Titles

Dear LM_NET members,
 
    I would appreciate hearing from those of you who  have recently purchased 
new titles (either individual titles or in a series)  that meet the following 
criteria -
 
1.    Middle School Interest Level and  Subjects  (Interest levels:  5th - 
8th grades)
2.    Lower Elementary Reading Levels  (Reading  Levels:  1st - 3rd grades)
3.    Pages    (75 - 100+ pages)
4.    Reading Counts Test   (I can make a  test if one is not available)
 
    I conducted a survey of our students regarding this  matter and learned 
that they prefer the following genres -
 
A.    Animal stories
B.    Mysteries
C.    Sports  
 
    So if you have recently purchased titles that fit  this criteria, please 
contact me directly at my home e-mail address listed  below.  I am in the 
process of researching such titles, using TitleWave and  the Scholastic Reading 
Counts programs, but I would like to hear from other  school library media 
specialists who have had success this year with titles that  fit this criteria.  
 
    We have the Boxcar Children series and are  considering the Magic 
Treehouse series, based on student requests.  Again,  it does not have to be a 
series, but many of the students like a series because  the characters are familiar 
and easy to remember - especially when they are  required to do a computerized 
test.
 
    The Bluford series seems to fit most of the  criteria that we need, but 
many of the subjects covered by this series are  a little too mature for our 
students.
