September 1983: an Apple IIe, a "gift" to the school library from a
parent who was starting a local computer-service business. My former
aide (and still good friend) still delights in recounting my initial
response to this new 'word processor' : "What on earth do I need that
for? My IBM Selectric typewriter is just fine, thank you very much."
