[LM_NET] Music CD's

Clear DayHi all,

I have spent a great deal of time searching the archives and cannot locate an 
answer to my particular question.

As I understand it, if a school has purchased a music CD and catalogued it through 
the media center teachers are allowed to use music on that CD to enhance, 
illustrate or teach a lesson under fair use with without violating copyright.

Is that true?  If so, does the same hold true for music purchased online by the 
school, downloaded and burned to a CD for teacher use?

Can teachers bring privately owned music CD's to school and use a single song on 
that CD to teach with?

Are any, or all of the above situations considered a public performance?

I am purchasing Carol Simpson's book on School copyright so that hopefully I can 
find my own answers to such questions in the future.

Any comments, opinions would be appreciated.
I will post a hit if anyone is interested.

Thanks so very much in advance for your patience and help.  The intricacies of 
copyright laws can be confusing for me at times.
