Thanks to everyone who helped clarify this for me...I got a lot of responses and a
couple of requests for a hit.
Basically, the answer is that you use what is on the title page. If the author
uses St., then we use St. If the author uses Saint, then we use Saint. In the old
days, (I feel old!) we would spell it out. Now we don't.
Although I wasn't clear, I really was asking what letters I would use for the
author letters on the spine label.
So, the spine label would use the author letters St or Stg (for St. George). If
the author used Saint, then it would be Sai.
