They didn't show off as well as Alstromerias (other name) usually do.
By the way again, did you know that Helen Vendler will give a free
talk, courtesy of the Friends of the Library at the Concord Public
Library Saturday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 pm. Her talk is called, "How to Read
A Difficult Poem."
Cheers and Happy New Year,
Joan

Dear Friends,
I'm extending the survey deadline to *MONDAY JANUARY 15* for you to
send me your choices for the best elementary & middle school children's
books of 2006.
List one, or any number and star your favorites.
You can write more than once and add titles -- up to the 15th -- if
you wish.
It's optional to give an approximate ranking by INTEREST LEVEL as:
PRIMARY (K-2, ages 5-7), INTERMEDIATE (Grades 3-5, ages 8-11), YA
(Grades 6-8, ages 12-15)
My criteria are different from the ALA's. I make NO RESTRICTIONS. Any
subject, any genre, by Americans or non-Americans, as long as they were
published in 2006. I'll even list a 2005 publication if it was
overlooked in my survey last January.
I plan to post the HIT before January 20.
Please reply to me personally. Thanks,
Joan
