After the responses I got on this subject I had to post to the whole list.
Hopefully, it won't fire up a controversy. It was very interesting that the
negative responses I received were by people who haven't tried this. All of the
people who have tried this and responded to me sounded very happy with the result
and often with the increased circulation. I starting thinking about this after an
article in School Library Journal, then I started to think about how my junior high
students look for free reading books, very few go to the catalog and browse there.
They wander up and down the shelves looking for something interesting but with
some vague idea in mind.
I decided that I am going to give this a try but I don't quite have the particulars
nailed down yet.
