I am a frequent visitor to Barnes and Noble (and any other book store I come
across). I have an educator discount card at B & N and often buy things for
my library there. Twenty percent off a sale item is too hard to pass up. I'm
not trying to sound like an advertisement for B & N. Most bookstores will
give an educator discount. I even visited a used book store that gave me 10
percent off. I also have a B & N credit card and I get a 5 percent rebate
on my B & N purchases with the card. This is a great way to go when
something is on sale or you need it in a hurry. And I do get lots of ideas
too. I also use B & N gift cards as prizes for library promotions.

I also go to bookstores to browse their collections in order to create
booklists. Sometimes (for whatever reason), I miss some titles or
just don't pick them out when I browse online. The bookstore visit
gives me the opportunity to open the book, check the contents, and
make lists---sort of like having a vendor bring books to my library
(which they do...and which I love).
Like Tony, I use deposit slips, old cash register receipts, napkins,
or any pieces of paper that I have in my purse to jot down
titles...I've just invested in a small notebook that I will use for
"just such emergencies!" However, I think browsing bookstores is a
great opportunity to see things as our students do---- they love the
bookstore environment, so why not see what the competition is doing
(and take notes along the way!!)

something for myself, it never fails when I go into B&N or another book
store, I end up whipping out the checkbook.? While it is getting "whipped

the backs of my deposit slips.? Tthey get more use as notepads than deposit

library collection (I'm in a Pre-K-3 school) and titles that just look
interesting and I'd like to read.? Even though they are above our children's
age level, I especially like to look in the YA section and many times get
copies for myself to read?of interesting looking books.?
