Connie Rice sent one answer and I asked her to post to the whole list. In
case you missed it, here's what she said:
Start menu
Click on Printers and Faxes
Left click on the printer you want to have a separator page Click on
properties Click on Advanced Tab At the bottom of the tab there is a button
that says "Separator Page"
Open it
Now it gets trickier.
Click on Browse
That should open the System 32 Folder. In mine I scanned to the end of all
the folders in there and found icons that ended in .sep I had four of them.
Since we have new printers I had to find the one that worked with the
printers we have.
Click on the one that you want
Click ok
Print a doc that is in word or somewhere else. (test pages from the printer
will not print out the separator.)
However, I found a way from what some said and from trial and error:
1. In Word, click on tools, then options.
2. Click on "Print" tab.
3. Under the heading "Include with Document," check "Document
Properties."
4. Then go to "File" and choose "Properties."
5. Under the tab marked "Summary", I then scrolled down to author. Ours
have "student" there, but yours may have something else. I then added a
hyphen after student and put Comp 1, then Comp 2, etc.
6. When the document printed out, I had everything I needed including
the number of pages in the document and the computer number. If a student
went over the allotted pages, I definitely knew about it. If the student had
saved the document under his or her name, their name appeared as the author.
Toni Koontz gave me the following info for printing web pages:
To put the webpage info on the page being printed form the Internet you need
to give special formatting instructions, but it is really easy:
Go to Print > Page SETUP>
Midway in the box that comes up you will see Headers & Footers with spaces
for you to type in.
- for Header (top of page) type in: &w&bPage &p of &P
- for Footer type in: &u&b&d
She then added:
I forgot to tell you what the header and footer look like using the symbols
I gave you:
the header tells page numbers ( Page 1 of 3 for example) and the footer
gives the url of the webpage and the date .
If you want to know which computer printed, you could type in: &w&u Comp1
(or whatever # it was).
Here is a website that explains it and shows it:
