Original Post:
I have a great opportunity....our new principal is not familiar with collaboration
and a flexible library schedules (which is in place at our school). I had some
time yesterday to meet her and give her an overview of how it works, but I'd love
to provide some good articles for her too. She seemed very excited about the
opportunities! Since I can't access my building yet due to construction to look
through old journals, I thought some of you might have some "on hand" to recommend.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Thanks to all who responded. In addition to the following resources, I also found
AASL's Position Statements on a variety of issues helpful:

* Love this article even though a wee bit dated - put the text into my
all-purpose Library brochure:

Heart of the School
The school library is as valuable as learning how to read and compute.
But it's a tough sell for administrators

* Think it is worth it to order these - very handsome trifold and you can
display it on back to school nights etc.

This is a great report and all principals and librarians should have a copy.

The Colorado State Library has links to Keith Curry Lance articles and
presentations. He worked out of there and his department LRS I think it is called
is still there.

I'd recommend a book... Leverage Your Library Program to Help Raise Test
Scores: a guide for library media specialists, principals, teachers and parents by
Audrey Church. Linworth, 2003. It's a well written and laid out book which lets
each of these constituent groups know what can be expected from the Library Media
program.
I know it's not an article title as you requested, but I think Ms. Church's
book is effective.

I'm posting this to the entire group because I have a resource that
features administrators addressing administrators about the importance of
school libraries. The following web site includes speeches from the White
House Conference on School Libraries that took place in the spring of
        2002.

I recommend the speeches by Gary Hartzell, Faye Farr, Dr. Steve Wisely,
and Dr. Kathleen Smith. All are administrators who value their school
librarians and vouch for the effectiveness of library programs.
