There must not be too many people in my situation
floating around out there! Here are the hits I got on
my question about not having enough computers for
students in grades K-2. Thanks for all who replied.
Hi! I am just about to start a new position similar
to yours. The librarian who proceeded me turned me
onto books by Winslow Press. Check out the website.

The material is great and the accompanying website may
be just the thing you are looking for! You can always
double the kids up. I plan on having a timer handy
and calling a "SWITCH" when time is up so one kid
isn't allowed to domiante the mouse the whole time.
Good Luck!
With the younger students I pair them up on the
computer by one student at the keyboard and the other
on the mouse. I find for the younger students it
really works well.
Our school uses www.starfall.com and it's free. When
I was in KDGN my classes loved using it.
Here's a idea for the keyboarding practice. See if
you can locate some
old keyboards (maybe from some businesses or perhaps
parents might
donate). The keyboard wouldn't be hooked up to a
computer but at leastthey could still be practicing
while their partner is at the "real"
computer.
