[LM_NET] TECH: DV tapes to DVD

We need to purchase a digital camcorder with a  port for an additional microphone.  
The only camera in the price range is a Canon ZR800.  It records to a DV tape.  Is 
is possible to turn the DV format into a DVD that can play in a regular DVD player? 
 The computers we are using do have firewire ports and DVD burners.  Would we need 
to purchase additional software and if it is needed what brand would you recommend?
