Oh Wise Ones,
As a fairly new library media specialist, I find myself curious about the multitude
of professional organizations which I could join and their myriad membership fees
astound me (Is it just me that finds ALA incredibly expensive?)
Would you all weigh in on which association memberships you feel are most valuable
to you as a professional? I've looked at ALA and YALSA (I'm in a secondary
library, grades 7-12, part of a charter that is k-12) and I've also looked into
ALAN. I'm already a member of Utah's group for school LMS'(UELMA) but not the
state library group(ULA). And of course, I love LM_Net, which isn't an
association in terms of dues and conferences etc.,
Your thoughts would be most appreciated!
