Dear friends and colleagues,
I entered kindergarten the year Cat in the Hat entered the literary world.
As I prepared to read it to my kindergartners, I told them that the book
turned 50 this year. They looked at me blankly. To give them an idea of the
amazing longevity of this classic, I told them my mother read the book to me
when I was their age. One child gasped in horror, "Your mother is FIFTY
years old?!" :-)
Do you have a funny anecdote you'd like to share with elementary school
librarians? Currently I'm working on a new series for Upstart that will
include lessons and administrative ideas for every month of the school year.
I'd like to intersperse bits of humor. If I use yours, I will include your
name and school.
Thanks so much, and keep chuckling!
