There is one thing to note about Turnitin. A group of high school students has sued 
Turnitin on copyright grounds. The suit is new, and there is no resolution (and 
there probably won't be for a year or so at minimum) but it will be something to 
watch.

We use MyDropBox.com. It's cheaper and about as good if your needs are
simple.

 

Hello, I looked into MyDropBox also but ended up with Turnitin.  Turnitin
does have an introductory rate and a "starter" package.  Don't rule it out
without checking it out.  We just started using it this year and hope to
have a trainer come out for an in-service next year for a more in depth
training.  We are up and running though without any difficulties.

 

There were also two suggestions about teaching proper citations and using a
search engine, but that's not what I was looking for.
