I am trying to come up with a special, once-a month FUN activity for 3rd and 4th
graders to get them to the Library outside of their scheduled times. I am thinking
of Third Thursdays for 3rd graders, the Fourth Friday for 4th grade.
Fifth graders come once a week for Friday Book Club. They bring their lunches--I
provide a treat. We discuss whatever they have read during the week. It might be
a book, a magazine article, an article from the newspaper, whatever. Last year I
had about 15 students attend every week. One Friday I had 27 students. With only 42
total fifth graders, I was happy with the results.
This year I would like to include 3rd and 4th graders in something special. I
don't want to do a book club since this is something looked forward to by fifth
graders. I want to stay away from games and "work sheets" like word searches,
puzzles, mazes, etc. since those things periodically occur during their class times.
Any ideas???????
