[LM_NET] Book Suggestions

I've been asked to find some books for a student who just lost her dad.  
I haven't met
the student yet, but was told that she is in 6th grade, likes to read 
realistic fiction and likes
animals.  I'm trying to find something perfect for her, but all the 
books that I'm thinking of
have some tragedy them.  Can you think of some really fun books that 
could help this student
take her mind off of her loss?.
Any suggestions?
