[LM_NET] Target: excellent non-fiction for adults

Hi, folks.

I'm looking for adult non-fiction in two specific areas, but I'd also
like to build a list of particularly good adult non-fiction of the last
ten years.  

My two specific areas:
I need a biography of Gandhi.  There are about a million hits on
Amazon--can anyone recommend a particularly good one?
I also need books on the history of food & drink--any culture, anywhere.
 I already have "A History of the World in Six Glasses" and "Much
Depends on Dinner" on the list.  Any ideas?  

Any other marvelous non-fiction you can recommend in any subject area?
